In additional to spinal manipulation, Dr. Chapman offers a diverse range of treatment options to her patients, including:
Mechanical Traction – Prolonged stretching of joints and ligaments to relieve neural pressure.
Electrical Stimulation – Electrical Muscle Stimulation. During this chiropractic therapy, electrodes are placed on the skin that send light electrical pulses to different areas of the body with the purpose of reducing inflammation, curtailing muscle spasms, and relieving pain.
Chiropractic Ultrasound – This type of therapy generates heat and vibrations deep in the body’s tissues to increase tissue relaxation, improve blood flow, and aid in scar tissue breakdown. This helps with local swelling and inflammation and facilitates the healing process of soft tissue.
Chiropractic Massage – This type of therapy focuses on the spine and its relationship to nerves, muscles, and joints in the body. Methodical pressure, friction, and kneading on the body upon bare skin stimulates blood flow to targeted muscle groups. Increased blood flow oxygenates the muscles, improving the delivery of key nutrients that helps eliminate acids or other waste products that might cause pain or stiffness.
Therapeutic Exercises – These types of exercises help to relieve neural compression, as well as develop strength and endurance. Isokinetic exercise helps improve range of motion and stabilization for flexibility. Therapeutic exercises assist in the relief of pain, rehabilitation, and restoration of normal body functions.
Manual Therapy – Procedure by which the hands directly contact the body to treat the connection of bones and/or soft tissues. This process physically manipulates painful, swollen, or injured soft tissue, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joint capsules in an effort to stretch the muscles, increase strength, and improve flexibility.
Therapeutic Activities – This procedure involves using functional activities (ex: bending, lifting carrying, reaching, catching, and overhead activities) to improve functional performance in a progressive manner. The activities are usually directed at a loss or restriction of mobility, strength, balance, or coordination.
Neuromuscular Re-Education – This therapeutic procedure is provided to improve balance, movement, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture, and proprioception for sitting and/or standing activities. This treatment technique is performed for the purpose of improving – via the nervous system – the level of communication between the brain and the body.
